Située à la pointe sud-ouest des îles Scilly, St. Agnes est une île à la fois intacte et étonnamment paisible. Longue de 1,6 km environ, elle est reliée à l’îlot voisin de Gugh par un tombolo, une langue de sable visible à marée basse. 

St. Agnes est une île de merveilleux contrastes... avec sa côte ouest battue par les flots et ponctuée de promontoires rocheux, ses criques protégées aux plages paradisiaques et la sérénité magique du tombolo qui relie St. Agnes à Gugh. A l’intérieur de l’île, les cottages pittoresques alternent avec des mosaïques de champs de fleurs, sous le regard du phare qui se dresse sur le point culminant de l’île. St. Agnes est également une communauté active d’exploitants agricoles et d’entrepreneurs créatifs. 

St. Agnes est une véritable invitation à l’aventure. Partez à la découverte du labyrinthe circulaire de gros galets ronds, avant d’admirer les formations rocheuses et les cairns qui parsèment la crique de Wingletang Down ou de flâner sur les plages de Beady Pool, à la recherche de trésors échoués. La plage de Periglis est l’endroit rêvé pour pique-niquer et ramasser des coquillages. Elle offre également de magnifiques vues sur le sanctuaire ornithologique d’Annet, les Western Rocks, un groupe d’îlots inhabités, et le Bishop Rock, un petit rocher situé à la pointe occidentale des îles Scilly. Ne manquez pas non plus le Old Man de Gugh, un obélisque de 3 m de haut, probablement associé à des rituels de l’âge de Bronze.

À moins que vous ne préfériez simplement vous baigner ou vous asseoir pour regarder passer la vie, tout en dégustant des produits locaux à la terrasse d’un restaurant ou d’un café ou en sirotant une bière au pub The Turk’s Head.
