About
Scilly Dark Skies Week is a celebration of grassroots astronomy and the Isles of Scilly’s wondrously dark night skies, hosted by the islands’ community observatory on St. Martin’s.
By night, settle in for talks from world-class practitioners in the field of astronomy, followed by stargazing through telescopes at the most unpolluted night skies in the UK. By day, wander on foot and explore the islands at your leisure before afternoon workshops on a variety of topics designed to help you build practical skills.
NOTE: The afternoon session are accessible to people not staying on St. Martin's as you can jump aboard a tripper boats. Please note there are no tripper boats for evening events from St. Mary's. However, live streaming is available for evening talks and is a great way to be part of the event if you're not staying on St. Martin's or even Scilly!
Scilly Dark Skies Week will bring together people with all levels of experience who are curious about astronomy and want to know more about how to appreciate the wonders of our night sky. Scilly Dark Skies Week is what our observatory was built for: developing an active community of astronomers on Scilly.
