La isla del lujo, la sofisticación y los famosos Jardines de la Abadía

Tresco es la segunda isla más grande de las Sorlingas y una verdadera joya subtropical. Es la única isla de propiedad privada del archipiélago; actualmente está gestionada por Lucy y Robert Dorrien-Smith.

Esta isla tiene un poco de todo: desde espectaculares afloramientos rocosos, necrópolis de la Edad de Bronce y románticas ruinas de antiguos castillos hasta apartadas playas arenosas y, por supuesto, los Jardines de la Abadía de Tresco, fundados en la década de 1830 por Augustus Smith y famosos en todo el mundo.  Este paraíso horticultural alberga una magnífica colección de más de 20.000 plantas exóticas de todos los rincones del mundo, muchas de las cuales no podrían cultivarse en ningún otro lugar de Inglaterra por los rigores del clima. La colección Valhalla, en el recinto de los Jardines, es igualmente impresionante con su colorida exposición de mascarones de proa rescatados de los naufragios que han tenido lugar en estas islas.

El escarpado paisaje de la parte norte de la isla resulta excelente para caminar y explorar, mientras que el centro de la isla cuenta con observatorios de aves repartidos en torno a las albercas de agua dulce de Tresco. Puedes alquilar una bicicleta para moverte por la isla o bien, si buscas un poco más de actividad, tomar prestado un bote, un equipo de windsurf o un kayak en el Club de Vela de Tresco. La isla también constituye el entorno perfecto para ir al raque o sencillamente relajarse en la playa… La arena blanca y fina de las bahías de Pentle y Appletree no tiene parangón.
