Stuzzicate il palato!
Dall’eccellente gelato di produzione locale al tenero manzo dell’isola; da prelibati granchi e aragoste appena pescati a soffici torte fatte in casa; dalle verdure coltivate sul posto ai vini e le birre dell’isola: la cucina delle Scilly vi delizierà il palato. La gastronomia è una passione delle isole, celebrata in ogni momento ma soprattutto durante l’appuntamento annuale del Tresco & Bryher Food Festival.
Nel loro insieme le isole vantano un’ottima selezione di locali gastronomici in cui assaggiare i prodotti del posto... Se trascorrete qui una settimana o due, non sarà necessario andare nello stesso ristorante due volte, a meno che non lo vogliate voi!
Ristoranti panoramici, pub dall’atmosfera accogliente, aperitivi sulla spiaggia, prelibatezze gustate all’aperto o uno snack al volo - troverete di sicuro il posto che fa per voi. Inoltre, i più avventurosi potranno procacciarsi la cena andando a pescare o alla ricerca di cibo sulla spiaggia.
Nei negozi agricoli spesso visibili a bordo strada è possibile acquistare prodotti del posto come frutta e verdura fresche, marmellate, conserve, il tipico “fudge” fatto in casa, uova e molto altro. Non dimenticate i contanti perché nella maggior parte dei casi si lascia una donazione a discrezione dell’acquirente. Anche St. Mary’s ospita regolarmente mercati con prodotti locali durante tutta la stagione, di solito nel palazzo del municipio.

Sam Hicks and his family have run Troytown Farm on St. Agnes, arguably the smallest dairy farm in the UK, for nearly 35 years. Here’s his story about how they produce their milk and ice-cream right here on Scilly.

The Ruin Beach Café is open all day serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. At the heart of the restaurant – and the menu – is the wood-fired oven that produces delicious pizzas, roasts the succulent beef and fresh fish, as well as baking the bread. It’s fuelled with island wood, and brings a real flavour of the Mediterranean to the cooking.

The Visitor Centre on Tresco is situated at the entrance to the world famous Abbey Garden. Along with a history room and a wonderful gift shop you will find the bright and welcoming cafe where light lunches and delicious cakes are on offer.
