It's a tradition on Scilly that goes back a good many years: a walking nativity on the Sunday before Christmas. It starts at the Star Castle at 5pm with shepherds and angels. They pick up the Three Kings at Hugh House on route from the Garrison into Hugh Town, and together they meet Mary and Joseph, and baby Jesus (cast from one of the babies born on the islands this year) at Douglas Health & Beauty, close to The Mermaid. The gathering proceeds through town stopping at the Inns on route to the Chapel. There is then a Carol service which starts at 6.00pm. It is very special evening on Scilly and popular amongst islanders. Many children carry lanterns to light the way. If you are here on Scilly it is a magical spectacle that really brings home the story of Christmas. Come and enjoy!
