Die Insel ist nur 3,2 Kilometer lang – trotzdem zählen ihre Strände zu den besten der britischen Inseln, wenn nicht sogar der Welt. Ob Sie nun in den Gezeitentümpeln der Lawrence’s Bay nach Krabben suchen, ein Bad im Meer vor dem weitläufigen Par Beach nehmen oder einfach nur in der Bread and Cheese Cove, Great Bay oder Little Bay entspannen – Sie werden sich im Paradies wähnen!  Und die spektakuläre Pflanzenwelt, die Tiere, die seltenen Vögel und die sensationellen Ausblicke übers Meer entlang der mit Heidekraut bewachsenen Klippenwanderwege tragen allesamt zur unvergleichlichen Schönheit von St. Martin’s bei. Unternehmen Sie von St. Martin’s aus einen Erkundungsausflug auf die kleineren Eilande Nornour, Ganilly und Menawethan, wo Sie unweit vom Strand Robbenkolonien erspähen werden. 

Hinter diesen großartigen Naturschönheiten verbirgt sich eine rührige und vielfältige Inselgemeinschaft. Die ca. 120 Einwohner der Insel sind ein fleißiges Völkchen: Es gibt eine Blumenfarm und ein Weingut, die beide der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich sind, eine erstklassige Tauchschule, die Unterwasserausflüge und Schnorcheltouren mit Robben anbietet, einen Designer, der sich auf von der Region inspirierten Silberschmuck spezialisiert hat, eine florierende Bäckerei mit leckerem Brot und traditionellem, herzhaftem Gebäck und eine großartige Galerie, in der die Arbeiten von Künstlern aus der Region zu sehen sind. 

Im Laden von St. Martin's, der gleichzeitig auch Postamt ist, bekommen Besucher alles, was man für einen gelungenen Urlaub braucht. Es besteht sogar die Möglichkeit, sich Einkäufe in die Unterkunft auf der Insel liefern zu lassen. Außerdem gibt es eine ganze Reihe von Einkehrmöglichkeiten, in denen man ein üppiges Lunch, leichte Snacks und den berühmten Cream Tea bekommt.

It all started twelve years ago with a silver shell range and we’ve grown each year and now have several ranges including fish, flowers, seeds and Scilly cowbells. We do lots of commission work from wedding and engagement rings to personalised pieces.

Our studio is a truly Scilly affair with lots of reclaimed island materials and local art being used in the design – the cabinets have even been made out of the timbers from an old boat.Read more »
