Die Insel St. Mary’s ist einfach wunderschön!
St. Mary’s ist die größte der Scilly-Inseln (1.800 Einwohner) und das Tor zu den übrigen Scillys. Die knapp 6,5 Quadratkilometer große Insel ist ein friedlicher Ort und aufgrund der Flug- und Seeverbindungen mit allergrößter Wahrscheinlichkeit der erste Anlaufpunkt Ihres Urlaubs.
Hauptort der Insel ist Hugh Town mit Geschäften, einer Bank, Kirche und Postamt, Cafés, Galerien, Restaurants und Pubs sowie einem wunderschönen Museum. Der Ort hat drei Strände in unmittelbarer Nähe: Porthcressa mit einem angeschlossenen Spielbereich für Kinder, Town Beach, von wo aus man wunderbar das Kommen und Gehen am Kai beobachten kann, und Porthmellon mit seinem Segelzentrum.
Die Personenfähre Scillonian III legt hier am Kai an. Hier ist auch Ihre Ablegestelle, wenn Sie auf eine der anderen Inseln weiterreisen oder wenn Sie einen Tagesausflug von St. Mary’s aus unternehmen.
Old Town ist die andere „größere“ Siedlung auf St. Mary’s. Der Ort liegt näher am Flughafen und hat einen eigenen, wunderschönen Strand, ein Naturschutzgebiet, die Old Town Church, in der Sir Harold Wilson begraben liegt, ein Soft-Play-Zentrum für Kinder, ein Geschäft, einen Pub und Cafés.
Weiter landeinwärts und abseits des „Trubels“ ist St. Mary’s eine entspannte Ruheoase voller verborgener Schätze. Die Küste wird Sie mit langen und menschenleeren weißen Stränden, spektakulären, felsigen Buchten, atemberaubenden Meerespanoramen, beeindruckenden archäologischen Stätten und wunderschönen Landschaften entlang von ausgedehnten Küstenwegen und Naturpfaden begeistern.

There are daily trips to the islands and out to see the wildlife and lighthouses. Boats leave from 10:15am and return until 4:45pm. The service is seven days a week from just before Easter or the beginning of April until the end of October. There are evening trips available through the main part of the season.

We are a friendly and reliable taxi service based on St. Mary’s, working seven days a week, including evenings and weekends. We have two vehicles available for hire, one carrying four passengers and one carrying six passengers. The larger vehicle has two integrated baby/booster seats so children can be transported safely and comfortably. We are available for a quick taxi trip to get you from A to B, as well as more leisurely tours of the island.
