Buzzing with reasons to come to Scilly in 2016
Scilly is a destination buzzing with festivals and fun things to do during the season - from walking festivals, live music and flim events to the World Pilot Gig Championships in May, island fetes throughout August, RNLI days, exhibitions, theatre and more...
New for 2016 is an events programme celebrating the best of Scilly - our maritime history, our thriving arts & literature scene, our fantastic food and local produce, and our fabulous coastal and country walking.
Kicking off at Easter, St. Martin's will host a cracking weekend of music and ale at the second Daymark Festival. In April, you'll want to grab your gaiters and walking hats as the ever popular Walk Scilly returns from 9th to 15th. This year this fabulously friendly festival which extends across all the islands, will have new walks, new guides and an extended evening programme. You can “top to toe” each island, take part in wildlife adventures or forage for your supper. There are also coastal runs, and opportunities to swim with seals and hire bikes at special rates throughout the week.
We welcome back the World Pilot Gig Championships for the first May Bank Holiday Weekend before we dive into a month-long celebration of arts and literature on the islands (incorporating the Isles of Scilly Folk Festival and Art Scilly Week). Enjoy the Isles of Scilly Festival as the islands come alive with an eclectic mix of open studios, ale festivals, folk music, literature and hands-on workshops and courses with any of Scilly's resident artists. In all, a fantastic month of inspiration, tuition, fun and relaxation by the sea!
The Islands' Regatta is anticipated to draw much interest in our maritime heritage throughout the August Bank Holiday weekend. There will be a stunning Parade of Sail, tall ships and regatta of Redwings, plus four days of live music and entertainment. Then when the schools are back, you can enjoy the "Taste of Scilly", celebrating the very best of local produce, restaurants and great food on Scilly.
Finally in mid-October, we welcome the Walk Scilly Weekend - a vibrant festival to bring out the best of autumnal Scilly - fantastic wildlife, silky hues and some magical guided walks.
