Additional Information

This summer, climb on board the two masted topsail schooner, Johanna Lucretia as she sets sail for the stunning Isles of Scilly. From shipwrecks to treasure, burial chambers to deserted villages, the history of Scilly is utterly compelling – especially as it mingles so tantalisingly with modern-day life on this breathtakingly beautiful archipelago. Enjoy cream teas on deck, gentle coastal sailing, and a view of the islands from a different perspective. Take the opportunity to hop from island to island, experiencing many natural wonders – puffins, seals, dolphins and a multitude of rare, and migrating birds to name but a few, or simply relax and enjoy life’s simple pleasures; from beach combing, barbecuing on deserted shores, swimming with seals, to watching the sunset and gazing at the stars. With their turquoise waters and pale, fine sand, Scilly’s beaches are simply stunning – beautiful enough to rival any in the world.

Scilly also boasts a plethora of dramatic, rugged coastlines – steep rock faces and deep inlets caused by the continuous pounding of huge rollers coming in from the Atlantic Ocean and the site of many a great storm during the winter months. There are plentiful rocky coastal walks across landscapes often cloaked in heather and flowering gorse or with castle ruins atop a promontory. All enjoy sensational views. The aptly named Hell Bay at the northern end of Bryher springs to mind as an excellent vantage point, as does Peninnis Head on St. Mary’s.

Whether you’re a seasoned sea dog or a nautical newby, on board you have the choice of doing as much or as little as you like. The crews will show you the ropes if you’re unsure, or if you want to brush up your hauling skills then simply let the skipper know and you’ll be able to get really hands-on. Either way – it’s up to you. Expect comfortable accommodation, with two double cabins, one twin cabin and one four-person cabin. There are three bathrooms on board, along with a comfortable saloon where you’ll be able to enjoy hearty, home-cooked meals made with locally sourced ingredients – and with all dietary requirements catered for.
