The colours of the islands soften, yielding hues to delight artists everywhere. Set up your easel, or stretch your legs and walk the islands top to toe. Listen, along the way, for migrating birds making their annual pilgrimage; if you take a boat tour, look out for fluffy seal pups that line the rocky islets dotted around the main inhabited islands. The islands brim with wildlife at this time of year.
A forager’s and foodie’s dream: hedgerows bursting with berries; shorelines filled with edible seaweeds and other beach delights. The islands are alive with local produce – a perfect time of the year to tuck into a 'Taste of Scilly'.
And then a sense of calm once more. Late October brings lingering sunshine and moody storms in equal measure. A time for reflection; the ebb and flow of the tides and the weather punctuating our seasons on Scilly.
