A final year “A” level student from Norfolk has won the 2015 Isles of Scilly Photography Competition following a public online vote on VisitIslesOfScilly.com. Megan Gallacher, who is studying Fine-Art, Photography and Geography at Thetford Grammar School, won with her photograph entitled “Tropical Oasis” after it received 516 votes. Megan wins a two-night break for two at the award-winning Sylina Guesthouse on St. Mary’s and two return boat tickets on the Scillonian III.

Megan has visited the islands every year since she was 6 years old with her twin brother, parents and grandparents. “My mum and her family have been coming to the Isles of Scilly since 1975, so it really is a family get away that means a lot to us,” Megan says. “The reason why I love Scilly is that there is never a boring day whatever the weather and each year our holiday is different! It really feels like a different world. I can always count on Scilly for quality family time, a beautiful setting for photography, and fabulous local food and atmosphere. I am really excited to have won this competition,” she adds. “It means a lot to me, especially as it was decided by a public vote.”

The winning photo will feature in the new 2016 Visit Isles of Scilly Guide as well as other marketing materials along with other finalists' photographs this year.
