Aquarium - Bryher
View the local species in the Black Pearl Aquarium at Bryher Boatyard, which include, pollock, dog fish, mackerel, wrasse, lobsters, conger eels, crabs and many more.
The Black Pearl Aquarium was constructed from a disused water tank on Bryher. It has a capacity of 8,200 litres of sea water, pumped straight from the sea at high tide, and is refreshed with new water every fortnight. The tank has a circulation pump and filter and is fitted with led lights. The tank is stocked with species of fish caught locally, mainly in the channel between Tresco and Bryher. All the fish are realesed unharmed back into their natural enviroment at the end of each season. A second "Rock Pool" tank is being constructed for 2017. Both tanks are free to view and are located at Bryher Boatyard.
