Between the 24 and 28 November, Greg James is on a mission to finally deliver on the rouge  promises he’s made to Radio 1 listeners over the years. From broadcasting on a plane to hosting a dog fashion disco, he’s also hoping to present his show live from the Isles of Scilly. It’s going to be a week of chaos, laughs, and maybe a few surprises.

Follow his journey each day live on Radio 1 Breakfast from 7am as he promises to tick off as many of these Rogue Promises as possible.

Why the Isles of Scilly Are on His Radar

One of the most exciting promises Greg James has made is to host the Radio 1 Breakfast show live from our very own island paradise! For those in the know, the islands are located 28 miles off the coast of Cornwall and are a paradise for both adventure and relaxation. Visitors can enjoy cycling scenic coastal paths, kayaking through crystal-clear waters, exploring medieval sites, and wandering through stunning botanical gardens - there’s no shortage of things to do in the Isles of Scilly.

Greg is also looking forward to experiencing the local culture, soaking up the peaceful island atmosphere and potentially broadcasting with a postie, adding a playful twist to his adventure.

On Friday, Greg will fly into the Isles of Scilly and go live on air from 9:30am. He’s also on a mission to find the silliest Billy in Scilly.

It’s the perfect backdrop for adventure, relaxation, and, in his case, a little bit of chaos for Radio 1 Breakfast.

Here’s a glimpse of what could be happening while he’s here on Scilly:

  • Finding the ‘Silliest Billy in Scilly’ a piece with people all who have a name that rhymes with Scilly
  • Going on a post round and visiting the head of Visit Isles of Scilly, Euan, in the post office (he also manages Visit Isles of Scilly, the tourism body for the islands!)
  • Finding out about some of our incredible wildlife including when Wally the Walrus visited with a local skipper
  • Greg will also be talking to some of the great and good on Scilly – basically, you will really get to know us!
