Experience the Isles at your own rhythm

Getting Around

Getting around the Isles of Scilly is an adventure, with plenty of opportunities to explore both the inhabited and uninhabited islands. Regular boat services allow you to travel between the main islands with opportunities to sightsee and spot puffins, seals, and other wildlife, and even get up close to one of the most magnificent feats of architecture – the Bishop Rock Lighthouse!

With five inhabited islands, each offering unique charm, the island-hopping experience is a must for anyone looking to enjoy the most of this tiny archipelago which is fun and easy to do.

Many visitors explore the Isles of Scilly on foot, as the islands are compact, pedestrian-friendly and it’s a great way to experience the natural beauty and quiet charm of the Isles. Hire a bike on St. Mary's and Tresco - an ideal way to cover more ground while enjoying the scenic views - as is the ubiquitous yellow golf buggy, particularly if you're not keen on walking long distances. And a seasonal community bus service on St. Mary's allows you to hop on and off at will. For an official tour with commentary and views to boot, choose a guided minibus tour to see some of the key sights on St. Mary's.

Some visitors choose to hire private boats for a personalised adventure or enjoy the waters through kayaking, wild swimming, or paddleboarding. Discover Scilly your way.
