The Isles of Scilly Tourist Information Centre has a wealth of useful maps, books and guides at its fingertips.
Maps & Guides - pick up the official Visit Isles of Scilly Visitor Map Guide for just a £1. It includes detailed maps of all the islands, top tips, boating times, essential information on what to do and see, places to eat, walking routes - essentially all the information you need to make the most of your island-hopping experience. There are also several books about the history of the islands, local birds, shipwrecks, wildflowers and more.

Book Your Island Adventure
Planning a week of island-hopping in the Isles of Scilly? Make exploring more of the islands even better with a saving from the St Mary’s Boatmen’s Association. Buy 10 or more inter-island boat tickets in advance and enjoy 10% off your fares – perfect if you’re planning to hop between St. Mary’s, Tresco, St. Martin’s, Bryher and St. Agnes.
With regular boat services connecting the islands, island-hopping is one of the best ways to experience the beaches, coastal walks, wildlife, cafés and unique character of each island. Whether you’re heading over for lunch, exploring a new beach or simply following the tide, there’s always another island to discover.
You can also purchase tickets for major Isles of Scilly events and festivals, as well as performances from the local theatre company, making it easy to combine island adventures with the best things happening across Scilly.
Top tip: If you’re planning to explore several islands during your stay, buying your boat tickets in advance could save you money as well as making your island-hopping plans easier.
Accessible Isles of Scilly Tourist Information Centre
Located on Porthcressa Promenade, the Isles of Scilly Tourist Information Centre is easy to access for visitors with pushchairs and wheelchairs. Step-free access is provided via ramps leading to the power-assisted entrance, with a RADAR key available for the accessible toilet.
Inside, you’ll find helpful accessibility information for attractions, accommodation, activities and businesses across the Isles of Scilly, as well as friendly advice to help you make the most of your island stay. Pop in with your questions, pick up useful information and plan your Scilly adventure – and dogs are welcome too!
Here’s an Access Statement for the TIC building. Introduced in 2018 and updated in 2022 following VisitEngland guidelines, it's continually updated to provide the latest information. If we've missed anything, please let us know so we can improve it for everyone.

Opening Hours - Monday To Saturday 9.00am to 4.00pm (April - November)
Please note that the Isles of Scilly Tourist Information Centre (TIC) is closed from November to April. During the winter months, you can still contact the team by email at or by calling 01720 620 600. Phone messages are checked regularly and the team will respond as soon as possible.
When the TIC is open, come by for a friendly chat with the team and tap into their local knowledge of the Isles of Scilly. Whether you’re looking for the best things to do, places to eat, island-hopping advice or ideas for your holiday, they’re here to help you make the most of your time on Scilly.

How to Find the Isles of Scilly Tourist Information Centre
The Isles of Scilly Tourist Information Centre is located within the Schiller Shelter at Porthcressa Beach on St. Mary’s.
From St. Mary’s Quay, walk through Hugh Town. When the road divides, take the right-hand route just after Hugh Street Café. Continue towards Porthcressa Beach and you’ll see the Schiller Shelter ahead, recognisable by its green living roof and public toilets underneath.
It’s an easy walk from the quay and right in the heart of Hugh Town, St. Mary’s – making it a convenient stop for maps, local information and advice on things to do across the Isles of Scilly.
